new post at long last

Wow, I haven't posted anything since May 30. At that time I was under a pressing deadline to complete a book, and then in the midst of organizing things to travel to Maine from the Netherlands.

Now, I'm back on the downeast coast of Maine, one of the most breathtakingly beautiful places on Earth. The photo at the top of this blog shows one of the many small harbors along this coastline.

Here is the cover of my October book, A Man Most Worthy.

In the meantime, this month is The Making of a Gentleman, an English regency about a spinster and an escaped convict from the notorious Newgate Prison.

I've dedicated it to a woman who has had a prison ministry for a number of years. Little did I imagine when I was writing the story that she would have a prison romance of her own. When I saw her recently she told me she had married a former inmate!

Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

Hi Ruth,

I'm glad you made it to Maine. Hopefully you'll get some dry weather as it has been a bit wet this summer. I hope you are enjoy time with your family.

I just read The Making of a Gentleman over the weekend and what a treat it was! What a wonderful story. I can just picture it on the big screen, but you know what they say, "the book was better!" How beautifully you wove the tale of the different classes throughout. The entire story was rich. I can always count on you for a book of substance. I will be reviewing it on my blog soon and will let you know. As a writer you teach me so much - you are my secret mentor, you know!

Will you be at any signings while in Maine? If so I'd love to come by.

Blessings,
Carla Gade

Hi Carla,
So glad you stopped by my blog! I apologize for being so neglectful of my blogsite lately. It seems I've been under one deadline after another.
Missing all of this beautiful Maine summer!!!! Chained to my computer.
I'm really honored to be your mentor. I just received the longest revision letter from my editor for a manuscript recently submitted. So, you see, I am still learning the craft.
Really glad you enjoyed The Making of a Gentleman. That was a fun story to write since Jonah was a different sort of hero for me.
No Maine book signings for me so far. I'll let you know if that changes.
Keep in touch.
